Volvo Penta TAMD Series

Technical specification: TAMD series diesel range. Inline 6-cylinder, 306 to 480 hp. Oil capacity is approximately 20 - 30 litres of VDS 4.5 oil depending on the engine type. See specific engine for oil capacity. 

The Volvo Penta TAMD range includes the TAMD61, TAMD62, TAMD63, TAMD71, TAMD72, TAMD73, TAMD74 and TAMD75. The TAMD range is an in-line 6-cylinder, fresh water-cooled engine.

The heat exchanger and air cooler on any TAMD should be cleaned and all the "O" rings changed, every 5 years to prevent overheating. TAMD diesel engines run on Volvo green coolant. Please do not mix or change the coolant type once one has been used. If you are running on Volvo Penta green coolant, continue to use green coolant. Mixing yellow and green coolant can cause gelling and blockages within the cooling system.
